Abstract

Two species of Thripidae, Limothrips denticornis (Haliday) and Eremiothrips taghizadehi (zur Strassen), are reported for the first time from Ladakh, India, thereby expanding their known geographical range. Detailed morphological observations are included, with particular focus on the variation observed in the apterous males of L. denticornis. Moreover, DNA barcodes of female specimens from E. taghizadehi were generated and submitted to The Barcode of Life Data Systems (BOLD). These findings enhance understanding of thrips diversity within the high-altitude ecosystems of the Indian Himalaya and highlight the region’s previously under-examined faunal richness. The study provides a valuable baseline for future taxonomic and biogeographical investigations.
