During the study of rice pests in Firoozabad, Fars province, Iran in June 2002, leafhopper specimens were collected on rice stems. The specimens were identified as Typhlocyba (Edwardsiana) avellanae (Edwards) by Unal Zeybekuglu, Ondokuz Mayys University, Turkey. This species is a new record for Iran.
